Dead City’s schedule for Spring Quarter 2013 is as follows:
- April 6 – Game 8 of the main chronicle
- April 13 – Easter Game
- April 20 – Game 9
- May 4 – Game 10
Easter Game is a standalone game – i.e., not part of the Mainstage Chronicle – in which players bring back characters from past years and engage in whatever weirdness the Easter Game STs have concocted… which usually includes finding Easter eggs. The Easter Game STs will be sending more information as the date approaches. (If you are new to DCP or don’t wish to re-play your old charactes, don’t worry! The E-game STs will have pre-generated characters for you.)
Game 10 will be shorter than usual, to allow time for Secrets Night, in which all the players share the plots, plans and amusing anecdotes from the chron. Also, the Main-Chron STs will tell you what was really going on.
As usual, all these games are on a Saturday. Plan to arrive at 4:45pm, with Game-On called at 5pm. Tentatively, all games will be held on the Second Floor of Parkes Hall (we do not yet have confirmation of room reservations – we’ll keep you posted).
The ST team has settled upon the tentative schedule for the Mainstage Chronicle chronicle, Damned If I Do, for Winter Quarter 2013.
- Game 4 will be on January 12th, 2013
- Game 5 will be on January 26th, 2013
- Game 6 will be on February 9th, 2013
- Game 7 will be on February 23rd, 2013
Per usual, all these games are on a Saturday. We will continue to meet on the Second Floor of Parkes Hall at 4:45pm, with Game-On called at 5pm.
Downtime Actions for Game 4 will be due on January 6th, the Sunday before game, at 11:59pm. XP Expenditures will be due on January 9th, the Wednesday before game, at the same time.
If you came to Newbie Game, stopped by our Activities Fair booth, or were otherwise interested in DCP but have yet to get involved in the Mainstage Chronicle, it is not too late to get involved. The Storytellers would like you to know that the majority of the team either started (or re-started) on Game 4 the first years they played, so its entirely doable. Just contact the Storytellers at email@example.com to arrange a meeting for your first character generation session and you’ll be ready to jump in!
During Games 2 and 3 of this year’s Mainstage Chronicle, DCP was joined by a reporter from North by Northwestern. The well-done three minute video report on her experience is here.
Welcome to DCP! We have the following activities planned for new members prior to the first game of the Mainstage Chronicle (October 20th):
- Newbie Game (October 6th, 4:45pm, Parkes Hall)
- Character Creation Session (October 13th, 1:30-??, Norris Cafeteria)
Newbie Game is a one-shot LARP for those players new to LARPing in general, as well as those new to NWoD Mind’s Eye Theatre. (If the preceding sentence was Greek to you, that’s fine – we’ll teach you that too.) Players are introduced to the World of Darkness (a world much like our own, where all those urban legends and scary stories are either true or cover-ups for even more horrific things) as well as to the experience and mechanics of playing a Vampire in such a world.
The Character Creation Session is an informal activity where new players are invited to sit down with the STs and hash out their first character for the Mainstage Chronicle. New players need only bring their vague character concepts and their imaginations, and the STs will help turn those ideas into a full character pitch. As with Newbie Game, no prior experience with the rule set is required. Attendance at the session is not required for new players, but is strongly encouraged. New Players who cannot make it to the session but wish to have ST assistance in making their character can contact the STs to arrange for a one-on-one session at another time.
Please see prior posts for times and locations for the Mainstage Chronicle.
Note for Returning Players: The STs are more than willing to help returning players with their characters, if we have enough time and/or manpower. Please be aware, however, that primary purpose of the the October 13th session is to assist the newbies, and as such we must give them the lion’s share of our attention.
If you want to help us acclimate newbies to DCP, the best way is by volunteering to act as an in-character Sire to a new player. As the newbie’s Sire, you would be responsible for teaching the player how to navigate the labyrinthine politics of V:tR, and for molding their character into a productive member of Chicago’s Kindred community. This will also help shield the newbie from the effects of their mistakes, as per the Tradition of Progeny
.If you’re interested in being a Sire, please email the STs, and we’ll match you up with a newbie whose character concept best complements your own. (Note: Acting as a Newbie’s Sire will not cost you any permanent Willpower.)
Dead City’s schedule for Fall Quarter, 2012 is:
October 6: Newbie Game
October 20: Game 1 of the Mainstage Chronicle
November 3: Game 2
November 17: Game 3
All games will be held on the second floor of Parkes Hall. Each game session will commence promptly at 5:00pm, and run until 10:00pm. Please plan to arrive by 4:45 so that we can complete basic logistics (sign-in, dissemination of character sheets, etc) before 5:00.
